What we do and why
The Grape Underground Wine Bar & Bottle Shop is the newest wine bar and wine shop in downtown San Diego. We offer compelling wine, beer and atmosphere. Our wine program focuses on small family, boutique and garagiste winemakers. We believe that small production wineries are making some of the best wines in the world. These wineries have the ability to be hyper focused on every part of their process from the vineyard to the cellar. Small wineries have very few if any employees and many times it's just one person running the whole show. A select few get to oversee every process, which minimizes error and the number of hands there are in the wine making process. Also, small family producers don't have the giant budgets of mass production wineries, so the difference in quality and purity of their product becomes more important than rushing wine out to grocery stores to meet a quota. We believe these small family wineries are true heroes in the wine industry.
Our wine bar and bottle shop is full of high-quality wines from small producers. Come in and taste the difference!
